Chic reads, bites, trends and more…

I've been thinking about starting this series for a while now. It's all about taking you on a journey that excites your senses, discovers hidden spots, and celebrates the diverse cultures around us. Expect collections of my personal favourites and insights, all shared with you.

Paradise Restaurant, Soho

A culinary paradise of taste,  Rupert Street, Soho, brings a taste of Sri Lanka. Paradise boasts a minimalist, brutalist aesthetic, adorned with hanging pendant lights and grey tiled flooring, and offers both booth and counter seatings. The atmosphere struck a harmonious balance between chaos and tranquility, crafting a soothing and calming environment. It was the ideal blend, where the lively buzz met serene emptiness, creating a unique vibe that felt both energising and peaceful at the same time. The Ceylonese-spiced prawns were truly the highlight of my evening.

“All About Love” - bell hooks

If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with love. A book shared with me by someone incredibly special.  "All About Love" by bell hooks  advocates for a revolutionary shift in how society perceives and practices love. She encourages a culture of openness and truthfulness as the foundation for forming authentic bonds. Through her critical examination, Hooks invites her audience to deeply introspect their views and actions related to love, positioning her book as a pivotal guide for those in pursuit of richer connections. This call to action is not just about personal transformation but also about reimagining love in a community. A 10/10 read.

Swift Bar - Soho

Bottom point is: the cocktails are amazing. Swift has quickly become the go-to destination for those seeking an extraordinary mixology experience. You realise that when you see a line outside waiting for a free table. Swift Bar doesn't just serve cocktails; it elevates the drinking experience to new heights. It’s delicate, bright and dynamic.

My 21st Century Blues by RAYE

If you haven’t listened to My 21st Century Blues by RAYE, what are you doing?! Her songs are a reflection of the modern-day struggles, emotions, and societal pressures, all through her lens. She also makes me realise the power of words and how they can inspire. RAYE masterfully combines elements of pop, R&B, and soul, offering listeners a deeply personal and often raw look at the complexities of contemporary life. Her ability to articulate feelings of love, loss, frustration, and joy is remarkable.

Trenches Coats are to buy now & keep forever

Finding the perfect wearable coat that blends style with practicality is essential for navigating London's unpredictable weather, especially with its sudden rain showers. The key is to select a coat that not only keeps you dry but also complements your personal style, ensuring you look effortlessly chic while braving the elements. Bottega Veneta stands out for its luxurious approach to outerwear, offering coats that are as fashionable as they are functional. Whether you opt for one of their sleek, waterproof designs or a more classic silhouette, you're investing in a piece that will keep you protected. Vintage Trench Coats offer another excellent option for those seeking both style and practicality. A vintage trench is not just a coat; it's a piece of history that brings timeless elegance to your wardrobe. For those mindful of budget without sacrificing quality, High Street Brands like Uniqlo stand out. Uniqlo, in particular, offers an admirable balance between quality, practicality, and affordability. Their trench coats are designed with the urban dweller in mind.

I hope this months suggestion spark curiosity and you try them out yourself. Whether it's a book that reshapes your understanding of love, fashion suggestions, a hidden gem in the city waiting to be discovered, or a melody that speaks to the soul. Each recommendation carries with it a piece of my world, eagerly shared with yours.
